Dear competitors,
The holidays are ending for many and we are entering the home stretch of our and your preparation for this Dakar 2021.
I know that you are asking yourself a lot of questions in relation to the pandemic that the world is going through right now.
To date,
preparations for the Dakar are taking place in accordance with the roadmap put in place with our Saudi partners who are very involved in the organization.
The Saudi government and A.S.O. are doing everything to ensure the smooth running of the event, which has been confirmed to date. In recent months, A.S.O. has maintained close and regular contacts with the Saudi Ministry of Sports as well as with the various diplomatic representations in France.
Obviously
we will have to adopt an Anti COVID plan that we are in the process of implementing in collaboration with the local authorities. As such, the Dakar rally will benefit from the experience we are gaining in the Tour de France.
In addition, as the regulations have stipulated for many years now,
it is hereby reminded that in the event of cancellation of the rally for a case of force majeure such as an epidemic, all of the sums received by ASO will be reimbursed quickly to competitors. For the record, this had already been the case in 2008 when the rally was canceled.
The A.S.O. team is at the time when I speak to you on the ground in Saudi Arabia to finalize the route of this 2021 edition.
Other news update will be communicated to you regularly.
In the meantime, we wish you good preparation and look forward to seeing you all for the presentation of the route in November and then for boarding in Marseille.
Yours truly.
